Healthier Cookstoves for local women in Ghana
WHERE
Ghana, West-Africa
WHEN

WHAT
Efficient Cookstove design project
During a three-month internship at the Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture (education and research institute), as part of my minor in 'International Entrepreneurship and Development' at the Technical University of Delft, I worked on an improved wood fuel cookstove design project. In a team composed by two fellow students and three Ghanaian students, we executed the following activities:

-
Performing a process characterisation on Ga and Fante kenkey (Ghanaian staple dish);

-
Demand assessment of improved wood fuel cook stoves among kenkey makers;

-
Designing and constructing / testing an improved wood fuel cook stove prototype;

-
Building relations and giving lectures on the Business Canvas Model method.

A more efficient and healthy cookstove prototype was designed, that produces less toxic/polluting smokes and uses less firewood than the alternative cheap cooking devices.
